Our History:

 

The current Wabash County Health Department was formed in 1983 by Wabash County Board of Commissioners Resolution and achieved Certification by the Illinois Department of Public Health in 1984. In 1989, the Wabash County Board of Health in cooperation with the Wabash County Community Mental Health Board added Outpatient Behavioral Health Services. In order to meet Certified Health Department standards and receive a State of Illinois Local Health Protection Grant we must provide at least the following services:

  • Food Sanitation: Restaurant Inspections/Consultations, Foodborne Illness Investigation, Provide Public Health Information

  • Private Sewage: Inspection of New System, Homeowner Consultation/Complaint Investigations

  • Infectious Disease: Communicable Disease Investigation/Control Measures, Immunizations for Children and Adults, Educational Efforts to Target Groups and the Community.
